It is a really exciting opportunity and a new one for everyone involved. We had 10 hours of mandarin tuition one weekend recently and were totally exhausted at the end of the whole experience. It is a really hard language to learn and completely mind boggling with a set of characters to learn and then an alphabet known as Pinyin for their pronunciation. Anyone confused yet? Plus on top of that there are 4 different tones for each word! But we managed to learn greetings, introductions, shopping phrases and most importantly how to order at a restaurant.
We hope to keep you all posted on our adventures using this blog and perhaps even upload photos. But not sure what the Chinese keyboards will be like or internet facilities. Please send us your comments and keep in touch.
