Happy Holidays!

Just a quick message to wish all of my classes a good October holiday, and to inform any visitors to the blog that the schools in Angus are now on a break for 2 weeks, if you are wondering why the blog is quiet. We will be back on 16th October. In the meantime, you can enjoy the latest Podcast from the 1st years in class 1L2!

1L2 Writing Challenge

This morning we had a writing challenge. Everyone had 15 minutes to write a letter to a friend, using vocab sheets, dictionaries, text books, and even some knowledge carried over from primary school to help them. After everyone had written their letters, they got into small groups and read each other their letters. There was then a vote in each group, and the letter that was voted the best was recorded. 'Best' didn't necessarily mean the best German. It was made clear from the start of the exercise, that the groups could take into account the effort put in, the presentation (pronunciation, expression in voice, etc). Anyway, here are the results of our work today, recorded against some background music that you might recognise!

Radio Mighty Mo!

Hallo!

We are class 4P2, and welcome to our radio station! For our first programme, we are out and about in the streets of Montrose, interviewing people about their jobs. We hope you understand everything. There are a couple of mistakes but we did pretty well for our first proper programme. Enjoy!

Happy European Day of Languages

Happy European Day of Languages to all my pupils and visitors to the blog. If you are a pupil at the school, you might have seen the posters that we put up this morning in various European languages. Can you guess which languages they are?

We also had a 'Euro-Cafe' in the library at break time today to say goodbye to our German exchange visitors who have been with us for just over a week and went home at lunch time today. There were a few tears shed, and overall I think everyone involved really enjoyed the experience.

Another thing for us to celebrate is that this blog, which has only been running for a few weeks, is growing quite dramatically. There have now been 1321 hits on the site! Plus, nearly 700 of those have been in the last 7 days, so our visitor numbers are continuing to grow all the time. Hopefully it will continue!

4P2 Classwork in IT Suite 21/09/06

Class 4P2,
As this is the first time that I have taken you to the IT suite, we will spend some time looking at the blog and the different sections/links and looking at some of the comments that people left about your first podcast. I will give you some time to look through it yourself. Then I would like you to complete 2 tasks.
1: Write a comment for this post (I will show you how). You must write a few sentences in German introducing yourselves. You are all very capable of communicating in German by now, so I would like more than just your name, age, and where you live. Try to write a couple of interesting facts about yourself so that I, and other visitors to the blog can get to know you all better.
2: Write a second comment to one of the different posts on this page. This could be for the first years, as we listened to their podcast in class the other day, or perhaps for 4Q1 (the other 4th year class), as they posted their own comments on Monday. This second comment can be in English or German.

If you have i-tunes, you can subscribe to our podcasts. So far there have been 2 recordings (1 from class 4P2 and another from 1L2).
To subscribe, follow the simple instructions below.

Hey Hey Hallo!

We are class 1L2 and we'd like to sing for you and entertain you. It might make you laugh or cry ?!

We advise you strongly to put in your earplugs before listening. The first song is called Hey! Hey! Hallo!. Robbie Beanz sings the first verse brilliantly and this song sounds OK.

For the 2nd part of the recording we split into groups and wrote lyrics for the 'Eastenders' theme tune. This doesn't sound quite as good, but we had fun making it. No damages will be paid to those who go deaf after listening. Click on the link below:
