Bonne année a tous!
Most of you have made a very solid start, having broken the back of the assessments which count towards your Standard Grade exams. Many have completed the required number, the task now being to get those grades up as high as pssible.
This term we will be focussing more on individual needs, making sure that you have ample practice at the level you personally need. Whilst many will concentrate on stretching themselves as far as possible, others will focus on a much more basic revision programme to ensure that they have a sound knowledge in all topic areas.
We will be following a regular revision prgramme. As you know on Friday a quick check will be made on two topic areas. Parents will be informed where it is evident that revision has not been adequately done.
On a regular basis we will be doing exam practice in listening and reading.

You are going to be given another text which on the face of it looks pretty good. In groups you will work out what criteria WILF are missing and you and your partner will be given ONE area you have to improve. Another pair will improve it in a different way. Again we will then put all the additions together and see what we end up with!

Whilst I did the speaking assessments the others were asked to improve a text they had evaluated the day before using the criteria listed in an earlier post
I've had a look at your evaluations of the text and your suggesed improvements. I will post the orginal text here and next period we will produce an amalgamated text from all you efforts and we will add it here too.

Well we finally got the sound file on and it really does seem to have made a difference!
At the Tourist Office
I was most impressed with the amount that most of you said and the variety. Some of you need though to have taken on board the advice to react in some way to the information that you were given.
Most common mistake - a rather bizarre one - was that a few of you put acute accents where there are none eg Ca ouvre a quelle heure? being pronunced Ca ouvré/ Ca fermé/Ca couté
Pronunciation was good except for where you had to decide whether you should pronounce a letter or not eg les or c'est - this depend on whether the next word begins wth a vowel or not
I liked the "Merci quand meme" that one pupil found out how to say and used correctly twice when I wasn't able to give him the information he wanted.
I'll record a couple of the conversations and post them here.
I was also impressed by those who came in during thelunch break to do the tests so that they wouldn't have to worry about them at the weekend.
